East Grand Rapids Public Schools is working to provide a world-class academic environment rooted in healthy, inclusive, and enduring architecture.

East Grand Rapids High School's addition and renovation is the centerpiece of its 2023 $158.9 million Bond Program. Facility and needs assessments revealed a need to right size and modernize learning spaces and labs. Conceptual proposals are the result of a robust programming and engagement process with well over a thousand stakeholders and community member participants.

The $134 million transformative project is focused on creating a world-class academic environment, that fosters belonging, well-being, and academic excellence rooted in healthy, inclusive, and enduring architecture. Best practices in sustainable design of educational environments are embedded in the design.

The existing high school is 271,000 sf, and the proposed addition represents an investment in a four-story, 150,000 sf academic wing. Building renovations focus on the modernization and functional improvement of locker rooms, performing arts, and music spaces.
