Scope of work: As principal in charge, Zach Verhulst is responsible for the health and well-being of the firm and its 27 people in offices in Grand Rapids and Detroit. He leads regional strategic initiatives and guides the firm’s growth.
Biggest professional win: In addition to being named the state’s Minority Owned Business of the Year, Pure Architects is working on Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital’s $60 million pediatric hospital and the $118 million “reimagining” of East Grand Rapids High School.
Other contributions: Verhulst serves on the boards of the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Economic Club of Grand Rapids and Westside Corridor Improvement Authority, and the American Institute of Architects National Task Force on Framework for Design Excellence.
